Patient safety has always been a fundamental issue for nurse leaders. The current quest for transparency in healthcare keeps patient safety a paramount concern. Clinical quality improvement and practice-based research projects often have indicators that relate to the impact on patient safety when processes are evaluated and either designed or re-designed.
