Online CE: Colon cancer screening: Recommendations and barriers to patient participation | |||
Colorectal cancer is the third most common cancer in men and women, and the second leading cause of cancer-related deaths in the United States. It is estimated that less than half of adults older than 50 are screened for colon cancer. Primary care provider (PCP) recommendations can influence a patient's decision to participate in screening. Additional research is needed to establish an effective dialogue between patients and PCPs, and to develop appropriate tools to increase participation in colon cancer screening. Advanced practice nurses and nurse researchers can play a vital role in improving colon cancer screening among patients. Earn 2.0 Contact Hours. More CE CREDITS VALID IN ALL STATES! |
