Abstract

This article describes best practices for designing and delivering a community exercise program (CEP). Content includes the evidence for the effectiveness of CEPs with consideration of a diverse aging population and logistics of space, equipment, instructor qualifications and attributes, cultural issues, class structure, and financial considerations. Specific prescreening tools and outcome measures will be discussed as will the role of specialty classes and marketing strategies.
