American Professional Wound Care Association

During its recent national conference, the American Professional Wound Care Association (APWCA) presented the "Outstanding Education Achievement Award" to 2 honorees. Sharon Baranoski, MSN, RN, CWCN, DAPWCA, FAAN, received the award in recognition of her knowledge, foresight, and leadership in wound care educational programming that has changed national clinical conferences in wound care. Guido LaPorta, DPM, FAPWCA, was given this honor in recognition of tireless hours of devotion for providing education that has enhanced knowledge and awareness of the devastating effects of diabetes in the lower extremity.

The APWCA noted that this award is the most prestigious one it offers to those who have made outstanding contributions in their respected fields of medicine and education. In the past 10 years, the APWCA has presented this award to only 4 recipients, including this year's 2 honorees.
