Abstract
This appraisal is intended for use by advanced practice nurses and emergency nurse clinicians who are involved in the assessment and management of Group A streptococcal pharyngitis in the emergency department and urgent care centers and for health care administrators who are involved in the allocation of resources for corresponding testing and antimicrobial dispensing. The Clinical Practice Guideline for the Diagnosis and Management of Group A Streptococcal Pharyngitis: 2012 Update by the Infectious Society of America is evaluated by utilizing Version II of the Appraisal of Guidelines for Research and Evaluation and practical recommendations regarding its applications are provided (S. Shulman et al., 2012).
