Abstract

According to this study:

* In people eating an overall healthful diet, selecting foods based on glycemic index may not improve cardiovascular risk factors or insulin resistance.

* In the primary analysis, the low carbohydrate, low-glycemic index diet, compared with the high-carbohydrate, high-glycemic index diet, significantly reduced triglycerides but had no effect on insulin sensitivity, systolic blood pressure, LDL cholesterol, or HDL cholesterol.
