CODE OF ETHICS

Thanks to Marsha Fowler for discussing our American Nurses Association Code of Ethics for Nurses with Interpretive Statements so clearly and helpfully, pointing out the many points of contact between the Code and our Christian faith. The clarity of her article, "Faith and Ethics, Covenant and Code" (JCN 34.4), motivated me to become even more familiar with our professional code of ethics.

FREE CE FOR NCF MEMBERS

JCN recently held its first quarterly Journal Club for Nurses Christian Fellowship members, offering FREE continuing education. Attendees discussed the article, "12 Hour Shifts: Literature Reviewed, Wise Use Challenged" (Jan/Mar 2018 JCN, 35:1), met the author Betty Kupperschmidt and earned one contact hour of continuing education for relicensure in all 50 U.S. states-all from the comfort of their home. Journal Club is conducted using ZOOM video software that allows attendees to see, hear, and write chat notes on a secure website. Attendees learned specific tactics to help mitigate the negative effects of 12-hour shifts on nurses.

Additional Journal Clubs will be held in April, July, and October 2018. If you are an NCF member, watch Charting the Way (NCF's monthly member eNewsletter) and your inbox for Journal Club emails. You can earn up to 4 hours of continuing education a year by attending Journal Club, a $52 value from your membership!

URBANA 18 IS COMING!

Since 1946, InterVarsity Christian Fellowship's Triennial Urbana Missions Conference has helped over 300,000 people discern God's call on their lives. Urbana18 will be held December 27-31, 2018, in St. Louis, Missouri.

God uses Urbana to reveal his glory and call generations to surrender to Christ's lordship. Urbana is a sacred space, where young adults find calling and learn what it means to join God's global mission-whether across campus, zip codes, or the world. During this 5-day conference, participants engage in a kaleidoscope of experiences, including 16,000-person worship sessions, Bible exposition, messages and seminars, manuscript Bible studies, testimonies from the global church, and prayer ministry. The cost is kept low to allow college and graduate students to attend.

Discern your place in God's global mission. Share Urbana18 with nursing students. Discover more at http://Urbana.org.
