After reading "Advocating for Janetta" (In the Community, May), I have spent some time reflecting on the remarkable work of Red Cross nurse Debby Dailey in putting Janetta Sconiers's life back on keel after a fire destroyed her home. By sticking to the task despite many obstacles, Debby epitomized all that nursing should be. She clearly went beyond the call of duty in seeing to it that Janetta had a permanent home. I wish to praise Debby to the highest possible level. To my mind, she has demonstrated what it means to be a nurse and has set the gold standard for care and advocacy.
