Dear Editor,

 

We would like to thank Dr Jacqueline E. Sharpe for taking the time to respond to our article. Our experience in providing foot care for diabetes outpatients at a university hospital for more than 10 years has provided many opportunities to conduct clinical research studies. We have investigated screening methods of high-risk nonulcerative signs using ultrasonography and thermography,1 factors related to deep foot fissures or onychomycosis,2,3 the association between foot washing and tinea pedis,4 and other topics. By applying our previous results and findings, the incidence of foot ulcers in our clinic over a period of 60 months was as low as 1.2 %.5 We will continue to strive to provide effective evidence-based preventive care of diabetic foot ulcers.
