The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), and state authorities are jointly investigating 143 human cases of multidrug-resistant Salmonella infection linked to pig ear pet treats. So far, several strains of Salmonella associated with the treats have been reported in 35 states. Testing is ongoing to confirm the origin of the Salmonella fingerprint.
