Anniversary Information

Our 20th Anniversary celebration is coming to an end. It has been a wonderful year full of celebrations, recognitions, campaigns, growth, and new beginnings.

Additionally, the 4th Annual Leadership Weekend was held July 21Y23, 2006 in Pittsburgh, PA for chartered chapter leadership, District Leaders, and provisional groups close to applying for charter status. Forty attendees had the opportunity to learn more about the requirements of our integrated chapter requirements, network, and problem solve with others in local leadership roles. They also had time to interact with the HPNA Board of Directors and the HPNA National Office Staff. Special recognition was paid to four chapters celebrating their 10th anniversary this year: FortWorth Region, North Coast Ohio, Washington, DC Area, and West Central Florida. Thanks to our District Leaders for planning a well-received learning-filled weekend of activities. For more information about our local groups visit the HPNA website http://www.hpna.org/chapters.aspx or contact Deena Butcher at the National Office.

The HPNF awarded two chapter educational grants to the Southwestern Pennsylvania Chapter and the Central Ohio Chapter. These grants provide funding for chapter education and growth.

HPNA expanded the Leadership Development focus of the Leadership Weekend to include invitations to the Standing Association Chairpersons to observe the July HPNA Board of Director Meeting. These six individuals found the experience very beneficial and enlightening to better understand the work of the organization.

Another new direction that the HPNA Board of Directors took was to meet for a full day with the Master Nurse Practitioner/Clinical Nurse Specialist Education Program Directors from across the United States. Attended by eight of the nine programs, the leaders shared details about their programs, and the presidents of HPNA and NBCHPN(R) shared details about each organization. All who attended found the information exchange to be very beneficial and have committed to repeating the process annually.

It has been a busy but productive and energized year. We extend our thanks and gratitude to Bridget Montana as she ends her year as president and welcome Janet Snapp as the 2007 HPNA President.
