In today's healthcare market, it is imperative that the GI Lab Manager recruit and retain staff. Unfortunately there are barriers that interfere with recruitment and retention of staff. Historically nursing has "eaten their young" and we have been our own worse enemy. The session's objectives are to 1) identify barriers that interfere with recruitment and retention of GI staff, 2) review how changes in the workplace affect staff and what measures we can use to assist staff adapting to change, 3) discuss what occurs when staff are not supportive of one another, and 4) discuss interventions to increase staff support of the entire team.
