The Hospice and Palliative Nurses Association Board of Directors would like to acknowledge the 8 years of service to HPNA by Dr Leslie Nicoll as the editor of the Journal for Hospice and Palliative Nursing (JHPN). Dr Nicoll has served as JHPN's editor-in-chief from 2001 to 2009.

Dr Nicoll graduated with a BS in nursing from Russell Sage College. She completed her MSN from the University of Illinois, an MBA from the University of New Hampshire, and her PhD in nursing from Case Western Reserve University. Dr Nicoll has not only served for 8 years as the editor of JHPN but also has been the editor-in-chief of CIN: Computers, Informatics, Nursing. She is the president and owner of Maine Desk, LLC, located in Portland, Maine, which she established in November 2001.

Over the past 8 years, Dr Nicoll has been the driving force behind the growth of JHPN not only in content but also in format. She has achieved indexing for our journal in CINAHL and has diligently sought MEDLINE indexing. Through her expertise as an editor and her patience in guiding inexperienced authors, Dr Nicoll has succeeded in building the volume of manuscripts, the quality of content, and the breadth of topics for this outstanding peer-reviewed journal. "It has been such a pleasure to work with Leslie over the years as she developed the departments of JHPN and built the pool of writers to the point that we had to increase the frequency from four to six issues a year. We want to thank Leslie for her leadership, her willingness to assist inexperienced writers to achieve their goals of publishing, and for her dedication and commitment to produce this beautiful journal of which we are very proud," says Judy Lentz, CEO of HPNA.

We wish Dr Nicoll well in her future endeavors.
