Abstract
Abstract: Research has consistently shown that people absorb information significantly better when written information is provided in conjunction with verbal explanations. Despite this, studies also show that many written health education materials do not have readability levels that are appropriate for women who have low literacy skills. This article summarizes the process and essential considerations, such as content of the material, readability, layout, design, culture, language, and medium of delivery in the development of low-literacy health education materials.
