ConvaTec, Skillman, New Jersey, announced that its Aquacel foam dressings can now be used as part of a comprehensive protocol to protect patients from skin breakdown related to friction and moisture. The foam dressings combine a soft absorbent foam pad with a gel-forming Aquacel contact layer and are designed to provide a waterproof, viral, and bacterial barrier, helping to protect skin from incontinence episodes that can lead to infection. The dressings are available in adhesive and nonadhesive options and a variety of shapes and sizes.

Molnlycke Health Care US, LLC, has introduced the newest addition to its product line-Biogel PI Pro-Fit, a nonlatex surgical glove designed to provide greater comfort during surgery while reducing employee and patient health risks and costs. The glove is designed with a biomechanically optimized former to help prevent hand fatigue during surgery and a synthetic material that is accepted by nearly all users as well as the Biogel Latex product, according to the manufacturer.

KCI, San Antonio, Texas, recently launched the V.A.C. Ulta Negative Pressure Wound Therapy System at the Canadian Association of Wound Care. The device combines V.A.C Therapy with an instillation option-the automated, controlled delivery and removal of topical wound solutions in the wound bed. This latest V.A.C. technology has been available in other markets around the world, according to the manufacturer; however, it is the first therapy available on the Canadian market to offer this flexibility in administering negative-pressure wound therapy.
