Abstract
ABSTRACT: With constant payer rules, regulation, and guideline changes, dermatology coding and billing has evolved tremendously. 2013 is no exception; however, because there are very limited revisions to dermatology-related current procedural terminology codes and ICD-9-CM code updates are frozen because of the impending transition to ICD-10-CM, 2103 is turning out to be a good year for dermatology. Department of Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sibelius announced the extension to ICD-10 compliance dates to allow the healthcare industry enough time to prepare for the transition from ICD-9 to ICD-10.
