In my role as a journal editor, I have faithfully tried to avoid inadvertently interjecting my personal values into my introductory remarks. However, in my opinion, all this totally impersonal approach isn't natural. At least, not for me. It isn't communication, and it's quite foreign to my usual approach to the world. I'm a communicating sort of individual, and communication entails 2-way exchanges. It's also perfectly okay to involve more than 2 participants.

Which brings me to the real objective of this little rant. Quality Management in Health Care's readers must be a smart, erudite group with plenty of good ideas of their own. Otherwise, why on earth would they read a research-oriented journal? I think that it's our readers who can supply the missing part of that conversation for which I yearn. You know who you are. When you read something in Quality Management in Health Care that inspires a reaction of some kind, why not put finger to keyboard and let the rest of us know what you're thinking? We have a "Letters to the Editor" section, providing a space for you to expound away. Just send your comments to me at mailto:[email protected]. By the way, you won't need a copyright transfer form.
