Pain in the hip region is a common complaint among the older adult population. The hip joint is often the source of pain, with osteoarthritis being a common cause. However, complete consideration of all the potential causes of a patient's symptoms allows for more effective treatment for the individuals reporting pain in the hip region. The following case study describes the physical therapy management of a patient presenting with multifactorial pain in the hip region. Emphasis is placed on the importance in considering the lumbopelvic region and pelvic floor when evaluating and treating individuals presenting with pain in the hip region. The described case study exemplifies the concept of regional interdependence and examining multiple regions as factors in patient presentation.
