Chasing Dreams

"How do you do it?" People often ask. I smile and shake my head, Heels clicking as I walk away. Until one has walked these halls, It is pointless to explain.

"How can you stand it?" People often ask. I think of all the dream chasers. The thrill-seeker, who so dearly loved life And lived it to the fullest. I think of the sweetest patient ever: She told me she loved me every night. Her only wish was to see her granddaughter grow up, Not for a cure or even riches. My thoughts drift to the young boy: He dreams of being Superman, And his mother longs to see him soar.

"Why do you do it?" People often ask. I have stared into the pits of hell, And seen indescribable misery. I have gazed into the sky, And seen the glittering stars of heaven. Their dreams are my dreams, And that is my reply.
