The World Health Organization (WHO) passes resolution on palliative care and pain relief. The WHO passed the resolution on May 23 as part of its continuing efforts to address noncommunicable diseases. In the resolution, which is being hailed by advocacy organizations across the globe, member nations are urged to "develop, strengthen, and implement" (whichever is appropriate) national policies and infrastructures to ensure adequate palliative care and pain control for the more than 40 million people worldwide who need it. The WHO itself will develop a global implementation plan. To read the full text of the resolution, go to http://bit.ly/1kLZYcs.
