Working on my hospital's Ebola Preparedness Committee, I have come to see that we truly lack the resources to treat a patient with Ebola virus disease ("Caring for Patients with Ebola," In the News, December 2014). The recent revelation of transmission of the Ebola virus in the United States demonstrated how unprepared we are in terms of treatment management, as well as in regard to an effective action plan and communication strategy.

It's the nurses on the front lines of patient care who have helped initiate and implement protocols and research on how to safely and effectively care for these patients.
