Abstract

According to this study:

 

* Both a plant-based diet and the American Heart Association diet helped obese and overweight children lose weight.

 

* Only four weeks of eating a plant-based diet significantly decreased body mass index, systolic blood pressure, and levels of total and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol, high-sensitivity C-reactive protein, myeloperoxidase, and insulin.
