Happy New Year! Welcome to 2016!
Keeping up with the regulations this year is imperative. We have been reviewing the Meaningful Use CORE and MENU SET Objectives for Meaningful Use Stage 1 and Stage 2,1 and it is important to remember the major provisions set forth by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services for the Electronic Health Record Incentive Programs in 2015 through 2017, including2 the following:
* 10 objectives for eligible professionals, including 1 public health reporting objective, which is down from 18 total objectives in prior stages
* 9 objectives for eligible hospitals and critical access hospitals, including 1 public health reporting objective, which is down from 20 total objectives in prior stages
* Clinical Quality Measures reporting for both eligible professionals and eligible hospitals/critical access hospitals remains as previously finalized
In this column, and subsequent columns, we will now turn to the Modified Stage 2 Objectives set forth from 2015 to 2017. We will review the first 2 objectives in this column and in the Table and continue our review of additional objectives in subsequent columns. Read each objective, specific measure(s), exclusions, and/or specifications carefully and dig into the details. Cheers to diligent documenting and strategic workflows!
