Murphy Retires From Nutrition Today Editorial Board
After 20 years of exemplary and dedicated service, we bid farewell to Suzanne Murphy, PhD, our distinguished Editorial Board member. There are few people in the field of nutrition science who have served more graciously and helpfully in an extraordinary number of posts, including a stint as head of the Food and Nutrition Board, National Academy of Sciences, as an officer in the International Union of Nutrition Sciences, as an active and thoughtful member of the Institute of Medicine (now Academy of Medicine) National Academy of Sciences, and chair of several highly acclaimed reports for the Food and Nutrition Board, in addition to her stellar scholarly activities in a series of very well-regarded original research articles. Thank you Suzanne for your 2 decades of help to all of us at Nutrition Today!
Experimental Biology Updates
Calder Awarded 10th Danone International Prize for Nutrition
Congratulations to Philip Calder, PhD (Southampton University, UK), for his outstanding work on nutrition and immunity. A particular strength of his research is its translational approach, extending the results of research in mechanistic and basic nutrition science to studies in humans, thereby influencing the development of nutritional guidelines and innovative treatments. In his Prize Lecture, he previewed his most recent unpublished findings on the value of omega-3 fatty acids to pregnant women and their offspring. Danone awards the International Prize for Nutrition in recognition of a researcher leading a major advancement in nutrition science, including new concepts and research fields with potential application for human diet and health.
