Biosorb Gelling Fiber Dressing. This wound dressing forms a gel when it comes into contact with an exuding wound and can be used for leg ulcers, pressure ulcers, diabetic foot ulcers, surgical wounds that exude fluid, partial-thickness burns, and traumatic and oncology wounds. Biosorb comprises carboxymethylcellulose fibers, which increase fluid absorption and protect the wound edge and surrounding skin. It is designed to increase absorbency and hold its shape, allowing for intact removal and less painful dressing changes for patients, according to the manufacturer. The product is now available in the United States and has the CE Mark in Europe, where it will be available in the coming months.
