Orlando, Florida, is nicknamed "The City Beautiful." With parks like Disney World, Universal Orlando, and SeaWorld, others call it "The Theme Park Capital of the World." More importantly (drumroll please!), Orlando is the destination of the Dermatology Nurses' Association's (DNA) 35th Annual Convention, March 1-4, 2017.

DNA's Convention Planning Committee is pleased to invite all registered nurses, nurse practitioners, licensed practical and vocational nurses, medical assistants, healthcare technicians, and other dermatology staff to come be part of our annual convention. Don't want to leave your family behind? Bring them along; there is plenty of space and activities for all ages. Rooms have been reserved at the Caribe Royale Hotel in Orlando. The Caribe Royale offers one-bedroom suites, which include a private bedroom with a separate living area to sleep six. With a March average high of 79[degrees], relaxing poolside will be easy at one of their three pools including one for kids and one with a 75-foot slide. Conveniently located, the hotel offers a scheduled shuttle to the Walt Disney World theme parks, Disney Springs, and shopping. The convention space is nicely laid out with all rooms in the same area and all on one level.

The theme of this year's convention is "Embracing the World of Dermatology." We hope the educational sessions speak not only about dermatology in the world but also to the "world" of the dermatology patient and the burdens they face when having a skin condition. The party, pardon me, convention planning is in full swing! We received many great abstract submissions, and back by popular demand, DNA has once again planned the convention to coincide in dates and location with the annual American Academy of Dermatology meeting, which gives us access to our great physician colleagues, who have excellent knowledge to share.

Are you interested in medical dermatology, pediatrics, surgery, cosmetics, or all of the above? Then, we have the convention for you. The educational sessions are divided into five tracks: medical/pediatric, professional practice, surgical/cutaneous oncology, cosmetics, and new this year, a community track. Pick your favorite area and follow that track throughout the convention or pick and choose sessions based on your interests. For advanced or experienced dermatology staff, DNA is offering the nurse practitioner forum, which runs concurrent to the convention. Remember, you do not need to be a nurse practitioner to attend this forum. Need continuing education credits? Not a problem. All the educational sessions and workshops come with continuing education credit. What a great way to get a bunch of credits all at once.

"But wait, there's more!" Attending the convention also allows you to attend product theaters, where you can learn about new products and medications and interact with leading skin care experts in the exhibit hall. Best of all, meet and network with people from all over the country who share a passion for dermatology.

Last but not the least, we would like you to know that your quest for dermatology knowledge does not end when the general and concurrent sessions end. Stay for the last day of the convention when we have our full-day special interest workshops highlighting phototherapy, dermatology nursing essentials, cutaneous surgery, and cosmetics. In addition, if you have ever wanted to become dermatology nurse certified, this last day of the convention is a great opportunity for registered nurses and nurse practitioners to take the Dermatology Nurse Certification Examination.

So, start planning today to join us in "The City Beautiful" for DNA's 35th Annual Convention, March 1-4, 2017, at the Caribe Royale Hotel in Orlando, Florida. For more information, please visit our Web site at
