Abstract

Abstract: There is currently an increase in the use of genetic technologies for risk assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of inheritable causes of mortality and morbidity.1 Patients and families are relying more and more on their nurse's understanding of genetics to guide their care. This article offers a review of the clinical applications of genetics relevant to the nurse practicing in the cardiovascular ICU.
