On April 24, 2003, the NACNS participated, along with many other nursing organizations, in a Nursing Community Meeting convened in Washington, DC, by the American Association of Nurse Executives. AONE Executive Director Pamela Thompson facilitated the day-long discussion that focused on how to develop a strategy to achieve a unified approach for effectively securing adequate future funding for nursing. The group plans to meet again for continued discussion of approaches that can be supported by the professional community, because each organization has its own priorities and interests. Executive Director Christine Filipovich represented the NACNS at this meeting.
