Abstract

Abstract: Shock is a condition in which the cardiovascular system fails to provide adequate blood supply throughout the body. Depending on the severity of shock, vasoactive agents, such as vasopressors and inotropes, are frequently needed to manage the patient and prevent adverse outcomes of shock. This article reviews the vasoactive agents used in shock, summarizing what critical care nurses need to know about these important drugs.
