Looking to make a difference within the neonatal nursing profession? Becoming a National Association of Neonatal Nurses (NANN) volunteer is a great place to start! Give back to your association and your profession by serving on a NANN committee or task force. Volunteer options may include:

* Program Planning Committee. The Program Planning Committee (PPC) represents NANN values and members' needs in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the educational component of the annual educational conference. All members of the PPC receive a complementary annual educational conference registration.

* Education Provider Committee. The Education Provider Committee provides guidance and direction for the NANN continuing nursing education (CNE) program.

* Health Policy and Advocacy Committee. The Health Policy and Advocacy Committee identifies legislative and regulatory issues that impact the NANN membership, influences neonatal nursing practice regulation and policy, and increases opportunities to work in coalition with other healthcare-related groups that impact neonatal practice.

* NANN or NANNP Nominations Committee. They influence the future direction of NANN or NANNP by participating on the committee that develops the slate of candidates for NANN's annual Board of Directors elections or NANNP's annual Council elections.

* Small Grants Committee. The Small Grants Program accepts applications from all NANN members with an interest in furthering research and initiating research-based or evidence-based practice (EBP) projects. The program provides an opportunity for connecting those with little or no research background with experienced researchers to enhance their skills and promote the success of the research study or EBP project. The Small Grants Committee is charged with overseeing the application process, reviewing submissions, and supporting the work of the recipients.

SHORT ON TIME? MICROVOLUNTEER!

Unable to commit to a committee or task force for the full year? NANN will be offering mircovolunteering options in the near future. Dedicate smaller amounts of time to help review grants, write a feature article for NANN's website, be a NANN conference buddy, or take advantage of other bite-sized opportunities that may become available.

NANN's call for volunteers opens in early May. Be sure to visit http://www.nann.org/volunteer for more information!
