Abstract

Abstract: With the demand for learning required technical skills continuing to increase, nurse educators must not lose sight of the importance of assisting undergraduate nursing students to develop skills essential for creating a trusting therapeutic relationship. Teaching empathy through a semester-long family care project presented as an unfolding case study can help students understand what it is like for a patient and family to struggle with the multiple issues associated with having a chronic disease.
