Abstract

Abstract: The purpose of this qualitative study was to discover students' experience of self-care in an online master of science in nursing course. The course included caring groups, organized small groups to provide support. The analysis of the personal reflective summaries of 37 students revealed two main themes and five subthemes. Two overarching themes illuminated "Finding Our Inner Selves" and "A Lasting Journey and Not a Destination." The students valued a focus on self-care, goal setting, and support from family, friends, and caring groups. Many mentioned that self-care is an ongoing work in progress.
