The article, "A Pragmatic Approach to the Application of the Code of Ethics in Nursing Education," published in Nurse Educator in January/February 2018, was selected to receive the Dare to Share Writing Award in Memory of Dr Kathleen T. Heinrich. The purpose of this award is to recognize a nurse author(s) who published an article in Nurse Educator that reflects excellence in writing and Dr Heinrich's values, beliefs, and philosophy. Kathleen was passionate about creating a positive work environment and culture of collegiality in nursing programs where faculty could flourish, were comfortable to share and debate ideas, and collaborated on their scholarship. In this article, the authors explore the Code of Ethics for Nurses, establish that it can be used to guide nurse educators' teaching practices, and provide a pragmatic approach to application of the provisions in the Code of Ethics.
