The National Conference for Nurse Practitioners (NCNP): The Conference for Primary and Acute Care Clinicians will be held September 24-27, 2019, at The Mirage Hotel in Las Vegas, Nev. Experts in the field will present a broad range of topics for advanced practice NPs working in both primary and acute care. Some of the topics to be covered include pain management, fundamentals of dermatology, battling obesity, chronic and acute cough, treating sepsis, lab data interpretation, type 2 diabetes, polypharmacy, and much more.

Ruth Kleinpell, PhD, RN, FAAN, will be kickstarting the event with her keynote address, Building Resilience: Strategies for Healthcare Clinicians. The increasing interest in burnout among healthcare providers is raising awareness regarding the importance of addressing, mitigating, and preventing burnout. Research has established that both organizational and individual interventions can contribute to resiliency and reduce the risk of burnout. This keynote explains measures to build resilience and highlights strategies for healthcare clinicians.

* Medicinal Cannabis: What You Need Your Patients to Know, presented by Theresa (Tracey) Mallick-Searle, MS, RN-BC, ANP-BC

 

* The Importance of Effective Transitions of Care for Anticoagulation Patients, presented by Tiffany Nicole Montoya, PharmD, PhC.

 

 

After a full day of learning, attendees can unwind by visiting The Shops at Crystals for some upscale dining and shopping or catching a Cirque Du Soleil show. In addition to the Vegas Strip, attendees can also visit Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area-only a 30-minute ride from the hotel.

 

Lippincott Professional Development will award a maximum of 21 contact hours and a maximum of 17.5 Advanced Pharmacology (Rx) hours for this continuing nursing education activity. NCNP attendees can choose to subscribe to The Nurse Practitioner in print for only $15 (normally a $133 value).
