Julia Child, renowned cook and television personality, was recently interviewed by the author about her thoughts on our national food identity and cuisine based on her 45 years of experience as America's most famous culinarian. For Ms Child, American cuisine is defined by its abundance, its lack of rigid rules for food preparation, and its hybrid nature, the result of the assimilation of many ethnic cooking styles.
