Abstract

Geriatric patients suffering from hemianopsia, most frequently from stroke, will suffer visual field loss, which is often associated with visuospatial neglect and can be quite complex. With appropriate treatment, functional outcomes can be improved. Vision rehabilitation maximizes outcomes and facilitates the return to independence, including, in some cases, driving. A model embracing the transdisciplinary rehabilitation team will be emphasized. Rehabilitation strategies for vision and visual field loss incorporate a range of optical devices, including lenses, filters, and prisms.
