BD Sharps Disposal by Mail System

BD offers a method of at-home sharps disposal aimed at protecting the public and sanitation workers from sharps injuries. The BD Sharps Disposal by Mail System consists of a postage-paid return box made of heavy-corrugated cardboard and additional packaging materials to safely send the filled sharps container through the mail. The BD Home Sharps Container, sold through pharmacies, can be dropped of at any post office; it is then sent to an incineration facility and destroyed. Octapharma OCTAGAM IGIV

Switzerland-based Octapharma AG, a European leader in plasma fractionation has received FDA approval for the marketing of Octagam immune globulin intravenous (IGIV) 5%. Octagam is indicated for the treatment of primary immunodeficiency diseases. The liquid, ready-to-use IGIV requires no filtration prior to infusion, and contains no stabilizers and is sucrose, fructose, and preservative-free. B. Braun has introduced a new total parenteral nutrition (TPN) Management System, Pinnacle, which is intended to streamline the TPN process from physician order entry to pharmacist approval to compounding and bar-coding of infusion containers. The barcoding feature is compatible with the B. Braun Outlook Safety Infusion System, and utilizes a Microsoft Window-based format for ease of use.
