Community Care Facility-A Novel Concept to Deal With the COVID-19 Pandemic: A Singaporean Institution's Experience," an article by Goei A. and Tiruchittampalam M., that appeared in the November/December 2020 issue of the Journal of Public Health Management and Practice, quoted material that gives an erroneous impression to the reader. The quoted material appeared in the second sentence under the heading "Limitation," which read as follows: "First, there were no negative ventilation settings in the facility, which is ideal for infection control." This gives the reader the impression that airflow between the clean and dirty zones of the facility was not taken into consideration.
It should read "Unlike the individual negatively pressured isolation rooms in hospitals, unidirectional laminar airflow was created by exhaust fans in the hall to prevent contamination of the surroundings. Side entrances and wall spaces were sealed, and a pressure differential of 2.5 Pa (2.4 atmospheres) was generated, with the outflow air filtered through a HEPA (high-efficiency particulate air) system before being released into the outside environment. Two-doored anterooms were created at the hall's entry and exit points to ensure unidirectional airflow. Security cameras were placed to monitor for any unauthorized exit."
