Abstract

This is the second of three articles exploring ways in which frontline nurses may be affected by recommendations of the forthcoming National Academy of Medicine Future of Nursing 2020-2030 study.

As pioneering health systems begin investing in housing and other services to support individuals and bolster communities, nurses gain new opportunities and responsibilities. On the one hand, nurses should expect their work to entail more tracking and sharing of patient data. On the other, nurses can apply their creativity and holistic approach to care to assist health systems in making an overdue cultural shift.
