Leak testing seems to be one of those skills handed down from generation to generation. However, thanks to more sophisticated technology, things have changed since your colleague who was grandfathered-in learned scopes were not submersible. User manuals that accompany the scopes have matured, also illustrating with more detail how and when to leak test. The Society of Gastroenterology Nurses and Associates provides multiple tools as well. So why is there fluid invasion?

This presentation will instruct not only the "how," but the "why" of each step, and will instruct in challenging the scope to leak. A review of the damages fluid does to the scope, and more importantly, how an unidentified leak can lead to cross contamination of chemicals and body fluids will be included.
