The International Society of Plastic and Aesthetic Nurses (ISPAN) Membership Engagement Committee is beginning a series of events titled, "The Expert Series." I was honored to be the first presenter (see Figure 1). Now that I have shown you how easy it is to submit a manuscript, I hope to see lots of new and exciting manuscripts pouring in! It is as simple as sharing your knowledge with your friends and colleagues! I am happy to help you conquer each step along the way. All you have to do is ask (mailto:[email protected]). The second Expert Series Event was held on April 27, 2021. Our very own Kathy Mortl, BSN, RN, CPSN, CANS, ISPAN-F shared her knowledge and expertise about the importance of certification. To view the Expert Series webinars, all you have to do is go to the ISPAN website (http://www.ISPAN.org), click on the "Members Only" link at the top of the page, log in with your username and password, click on the Past Programming link, and then click on the event you would like to review. It is as easy as pie!

As a result of changes to the American Nurses Credentialing Center criteria, the term, Continuing Nursing Education is being replaced with the term Nursing Continuing Professional Development (NCPD). This issue includes two NCPD articles! In the first NCPD article, Tedesco et al. (2021) discuss their research demonstrating the value of assessing a woman's expectations before providing education about breast reconstruction. In the second NCPD article, which is the I Have a Question! column, Van Wicklin and Mortl (2021) educate plastic and aesthetic nurses about Hyaluron pens and the potential dangers associated with these devices.

The Fundamentals of Plastic and Aesthetic Nursing column discusses safe injection practices; this is an issue of critical importance for plastic and aesthetic nurses and other health care professionals who administer injectable medications or other injectable products such as dermal fillers (Van Wicklin, 2021a).

But there's more! In addition to this extremely informative Letter From the Editor (Van Wicklin, 2021b), the Fundamentals column, and the two NCPD offerings, this issue of PSN also contains a number of other interesting and enlightening articles. You have the opportunity to read the inspiring messages provided by our ISPAN President-Elect, Gerri Obi (Obi, 2021) and the President of our Plastic Surgical Nursing Certification Board (PSNCB), Renee Hinojosa (Hinojosa, 2021). The Evidence Review column (Van Wicklin, 2021c) describes a longitudinal study by Boehm et al. (2020) conducted to quantify age-related volume changes occurring within the superficial, deep, and buccal fat compartments of the midface.

There is also a thought-provoking grounded theory study by Jalili et al. (2021) that discusses factors involved in the decision of Iranian men to undergo rhinoplasty, an article by Varga (2021) that identifies methods for providing optimal rejuvenation to the jawline and perioral area using neuromodulators and dermal fillers, a fascinating study by Kumbasar et al. (2021) about monitoring breast reconstruction flaps using near-infrared spectroscopy tissue oximetry, and a comprehensive discussion by Boczar et al. (2021) about the ways a facial recognition tool can be used to perform a health assessment and the clinical, ethical, and legal issues associated with its use.

Also included in this issue are two interesting reconstruction department-specific articles. Chakraborty et al. (2021) describe their reconstruction of a large left-side medial cheek defect in a 78-year-old woman using a cervicofacial rotation advancement flap and Alonso-Carpio et al. (2021) report on their use of a free arterialized venous flap to reconstruct a hand defect in a 61-year-old woman with a volar soft tissue defect and flexor tendon exposure injury that developed after a steroid injection for her trigger finger.

All of this great reading should keep you busy until our next issue! Enjoy! I'm so proud to be the editor-in-chief of this amazing journal that reflects the diversity of plastic and aesthetic nursing.

Respectfully,

Sharon Ann Van Wicklin, PhD, RN, CNOR,
