2005 is the year of change for the ASPSN National Convention. We are very excited about these changes and feel that it is a positive move toward collaboration with ASPS and other plastic surgery specialties.

Some of the convention highlights are as follows:

* Saturday-Invitation from ASPS to attend their welcoming reception and to listen to their Keynote Speaker Sandra Day O'Connor (sponsored by NexTech). It is an honor to present the esteemed and recently retired member of the Supreme Court of the United States, Sandra Day O'Connor, Former-Associate Justice. As the 102nd appointee to the Court and its first female member, Former-Justice O'Connor will offer a unique insight into an arena unknown to most. Her inspired remarks will impact all in attendance.

* Sunday-Lifestyles Exhibits will be from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM. In case you don't have enough time for shopping, you will be able to pick up all your gifts in one place. The Regions will also be selling their wares, so make sure you support your region.

* Sunday-First-time Attendees Luncheon

* Sunday "Southwestern Party"-The Membership Appreciation Night hosted by the President of ASPSN (also known as the President's Reception) will be a casual reception honoring the dedicated members of ASPSN. The awards ceremony will be held during the reception, so guests (spouse, a friend, or a physician) are welcome. This reception is being sponsored by Physician's Choice.

* Monday-Combined ASPSN/ASPS panel presentation on Patient Safety is scheduled in the convention hall on from 1:15-2:15.

* Monday-Regional receptions hosted by your region.

* Tuesday-ASPSN Business Meeting from 11:00-1:00. A box lunch will be provided, so we encourage all members to attend to ensure a voice for your association.

* Poster presentations will displayed at the ASPS exhibit hall.

* A combination of convention exhibits with ASPS-This has been an ongoing request from the membership and the exhibitors for years. We have scheduled unopposed exhibit time on Monday afternoon, so this would be a great opportunity to meet with your physician and visit the exhibitors.

The future for ASPSN is extremely positive. Our association has increased visibility, increased membership, increased involvement with other professional organizations, and an increased enthusiasm amongst the membership. We are plastic surgical nurses and we continue to ASPire to Excellence.
