A staff report

Now in its 26th year, Nursing Management Congress continues to generate sizable crowds and attention, with this year's attendance once again at 1,500. Nurse leaders from around the world experienced top-notch sessions led by renowned health-care professionals-and enjoyed the magic of Disney while staying at the conference headquarters Contemporary Resort, Orlando, Fla.

During opening ceremonies, Editor-in-Chief and Congress Chair Richard Hader, RN, CNA, CHE, CPHQ, PhD, FAAN, presented Elizabeth Manco-Herrman, Chief Nurse Officer and Vice-President of Patient Care Services at Holmes Regional Medical Center, Melbourne, Fla., and Palm Bay Community Hospital, Palm Bay, Fla., with Nursing Management 's Visionary Leader 2005 Award.

"Elizabeth has been recognized countless times for her contributions, and for the past 4 years, Gallup Poll has identified her as a world-class leader," said Hader. "According to her staff members, she's the 'ultimate leader in excellence for nursing. Her insight and continuous desire for exceptional patient care have given all nurses at her facility the opportunity to put their personal signature on the future of nursing.'"

During their 4-day stay, participants benefited not only from riveting breakout and general sessions, but also detailed poster presentations and comprehensive vendor exhibits. Some 115 product and recruitment companies met with attendees to discuss their services and technologies and provide hands-on interaction.

Nursing Management will offer another stellar program next year at the Philadelphia Marriott from October 15 to 18. In the meantime, don't miss the journal's ever-popular Recruitment & Retention Conference when it rolls into the Las Vegas Hilton from March 24 to 26.
