Dear HPNA friends and family,

I am pleased and excited to announce that the Hospice and Palliative Nurses Association (HPNA) and the Hospice and Palliative Nurses Foundation (HPNF) adopted new mission and vision statements, effective January 1, 2022.

Mission and vision statements are designed to morph, change, and adapt to the growing organization and current industry climate. The HPNA and HPNF mission and vision statements were last reviewed in 2017. For many of us, life today looks much different than it did just four short years ago. As we focus on the future, we need to ensure that our mission and vision statements will be able to guide us there.

Our mission and vision statements are reviewed and/or modified during each new strategic planning process by the Board of Directors. HPNA and HPNF just completed strategic planning for 2022-2025.

We are proud to support, educate, and represent hospice and palliative nurses. We felt it was important for our mission and vision statements to reflect that commitment.

HPNA and HPNF are proud to present our new mission and vision statements:

HPNA Mission Statement: Advance nursing expertise in hospice and palliative care through education, advocacy, leadership, and research.

HPNF Mission Statement: Support hospice and palliative research, education, and leadership development to advance expert nursing care.

HPNA and HPNF Vision Statement: Every person living with serious illness receives equitable, comprehensive, and innovative hospice and palliative nursing care.

We look forward to honoring these statements with our future endeavors.

Sincerely,

Holli Martinez, MSN, FNP-BC, ACHPN, FPCN
