One of the goals of the Rehabilitation Nursing Journal (RNJ) Editorial Board and myself this year is to get the word out about publishing in RNJ and what support we, the Board, can offer you. Most of us don't come to writing easily and as such need some assistance. We have been pleased to see the interest in the Clinical Consultation feature that the journal is including in each issue. As a reminder, this feature was originally titled "This n' That." The journal kept that title for the first article on medication management in the January/February issue and then changed it to a more appropriate title, Clinical Consultation. This month RNJ is publishing clinical consultations on two very different subjects, baclofen and CARF accreditation. Currently, I don't have other clinical consultations that have been submitted and accepted. This is your chance to showcase best practices in your facility. Each submission is reviewed by one Editorial Board member and myself. It does not go through the traditional peer review process. I look forward to receiving your submissions.

Here are some resources that may help you with a potential clinical consultation or another type of article:

* Writing coach. The Board and I are still discussing this idea. We have advertised about this idea in the past; however, there's been little interest. The Editorial Board and I want to help you be successful in your writing; however, we don't know who needs the help. When any of us first start writing, we all think our writing is "ugly," doesn't make sense, will be rejected, etc. That's normal and what most writers experience when they write. But don't let that stop you from writing! Please reach out to me with your ideas, first drafts, etc. E-mail me at mailto:[email protected]

* Query letter. In the author guidelines, there is mention of a query letter. By quickly writing to me at the journal, I can give you feedback if your proposed writing project would be something that RNJ would be interested in publishing.

* During COVID-19, I created a 60-minute webinar on how to write a publishable clinical paper. That webinar is still available in the ARN Learning Center under the leadership and management heading. Here is the link: https://learn.rehabnurse.org/content/developing-publishable-clinical-manuscript

* At conference in Providence this August, I will be presenting a seminar on writing for publication. I will be devoting half of the time of the presentation developing two ideas for publication suggested by the group. From these two ideas, we will spend time figuring how to turn these ideas into clinical papers to include next steps, what the literature review would look like, what resources would be needed to complete the paper, and so forth.
