Abstract

Diabetic kidney disease (DKD) remains one of the most frequent causes of chronic kidney disease, and the prevalence of the condition continues to increase. With increasing responsibilities, NPs are uniquely positioned to greatly impact the care of patients with DKD. It is imperative that primary care NPs recognize, refer, and even initiate appropriate treatment for DKD. This article will cover some major points and advances in the management of DKD, with a particular focus on recommended medications.
