Abstract
During his first short-term healthcare mission trip to serve as a nurse in Nigeria, this author wrestled with the resource-poor healthcare setting, the loss of a life that could have been prevented in a North American hospital, and the requirement that patients and their families pay for care before being discharged. Reflections on his expectations and the mission's outcomes, a new sense of humility, and grappling with challenges to his faith accompanied the author home.
