How many patients have you seen in the last month with a latex allergy? How many co-workers have developed a latex allergy? Find out the challenges faced by this nurse after developing anaphylaxis to latex, including learning how to continue living with the constant fear of another emergency room visit with respiratory distress. As 20 percent of hospital personnel have a latex allergy, changes need to occur to help patients feel comfortable in the hospital. This talk will include living in the real world, going to resturants, traveling, and doing everyday activities we all take for granted. A look at the American Disability Act and the rights a person has with a latex allergy will be discussed along with the presenter's strategies for staying "normal" by participating in life.
