Kentucky CE Requirements for License Renewal

Kentucky.jpegAs a nurse in the state of Kentucky, you are required to earn continuing education to renew your active license.

Renewal Requirements

RN

  • Every year
    • 14 hours of continuing education, including: 
      • 3 hours related to domestic violence (one-time requirement)
      • 1.5 hours on pediatric abusive head trauma (one-time requirement)
LPN
  • Every year
    • 14 hours of continuing education, including: 
      • 3 hours related to domestic violence (one-time requirement)
      • 1.5 hours on pediatric abusive head trauma (one-time requirement)
Advanced Practice 
  • Every year
    • 14 hours of continuing education, including: 
      • 5 hours in pharmacology
      • 1.5 contact hours on the use of KASPER, pain management, or addiction disorders, for APRNs with a CAPA-CS (this may count as part of the required pharmacology hours

Note: If you are a Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners (SANE) credentialed nurse, here are CE activities to help you meet your required 5 contact hours of sexual assault CE each licensure period (forensic medicine or domestic violence CE will meet this requirement).
