Abstract

The Farm Bill is the complex law that reauthorizes nutrition assistance programs and agricultural programs, approximately once every 5 years. This article describes the Farm Bill titles other than the nutrition title, especially commodity subsidy programs, crop insurance programs, conservation programs, and several small programs that support organic, local, and sustainable production. A current policy question is whether the nutrition and agricultural components will remain part of the Farm Bill going forward.
